Keystone Pipleline: Now lets who the obstructionist is

Obama always wants to claim Republicans are the obstructionists. A bill approving the Keystone Pipeline from Canada to an existing pipeline in Nebraska has passed both the House of Representatives and the Senate. It now heads to Obama for signing though he has already threatened to veto it if it passed. Given that the bill has passed both chambers of Congress, with the help of Democrats who support the bill, wouldn’t his failure to sign the bill into law make him the obstructionist?

Can’t teach an old dog new tricks

I was looking for someone on SpringfieldMugshots.com when I came across someone else I knew. I know her history goes back further, but lets review what she has been charged with.

1) Careless and imprudent driving
2) Careless and imprudent driving
3) Stealing / When value of property or services is $500 or more but less than $25,000
4) Not listed
5) Probation violation – Felony
6) Probation violation – Felony
7) Probation violation – Felony
8) Probation violation
9) Stealing / When value of property or services is $500 or more but less than $25,000

Now, I ask, with a history like hers why do they keep letting her out? Were three felony probation violations not enough of a clue that she wouldn’t stop doing whatever she was doing?

The religion of peace and the freedom of speech

In recent days we’ve heard about killings performed by Islamist extremists because of cartoons depicting the Prophet Mouhammad. We’ve also got a blogger who has been sentenced to 10 years in prison and 1,000 lashes for simply insulting Islam, the often referred religion of peace. There are also plenty of cases where women will be beat for not following every aspect of Sharia law. We’ve got military members murdering soldiers on bases while claiming they are doing so for Allah. And forget about being openly gay and Muslum because you’ll likely be put to death. Why do people try to argue that the religion of Islam is peaceful when all of this is happening and why is it most often liberals, who are supposedly more pro-religion, pro-speech, pro-gay, and pro-woman, that stand up for these people?

If a Christian were to do the same things, liberals would be up in arms over it. Islam is no religion of peace. Those that defend it ignore the facts and it makes no sense to me. While I am fully pro-religion, I am not pro-violence. I believe that if you kill someone it better be because they were trying to kill you and were in the wrong. I am absolutely pro-speech, which is evident by what I say on this site. As a Christian I’m not out harming or threatening to harm someone over the Piss Christ photos. As for being pro-woman, I have no problems with women. I expect men and women should be held to the same standard and receive the same pay IF the results of their work are equal. Poor work, poor pay, whether male or female. As for sexual preference, I don’t care what your sexual preference is, but be consistent. If one man wants to have five wives and they are also willing, why can’t they? I don’t have that opinion on religious grounds. I have that opinion because it shouldn’t be up to government to make that decision.

At some point it would be nice of our so-called leaders had the same standards that I do.

One anti-gun liberal stepping out the door

I’m not sad to hear that California Senator Barbara Boxer has decided not to run for re-election in 2016. Boxer, who was a supporter of the “assault weapons ban” and limits on so-called “high capacity magazines” will finally call it quits. It’s unlikely, but maybe we can get some more conservatives out of California. During work trips I have talked to quite a few people who say rural California is nothing like the big cities.

Just what we need, more borrowing.

The Obama administration just announced that he has taken executive action to make it easier for people to get mortgages and buy homes by lowering mortgage insurance from 1.35% to .85%. Obama said “That’s enough to save the average buyer $900 a year, that’s $900 to pay for groceries, gas, a child’s education, or depending on what it is, your monthly mortgage payment.” Let’s think about this. If an average of $75 a month is *that* important to you, perhaps you shouldn’t be buying a house in the first place.

This is stupid. It seems like Obama wants to set the country up for failure that way, if Republicans do win the White House in 2016, they can be blamed when it all goes crashing down again.

Obama the obstructionist

I remember a couple of years ago when Obama and Democrats claimed that Republicans in the House were obstructionists because Democrats controlled the Senate and the White House. Anybody who understands the process knows it was actually the exact opposite, particularly with revenue related bills such as a budget. The reason is because revenue bills must originate in the House, proceed to the Senate, and then be signed by the President. Back in 2012 the Senate, controlled by Democrats, had not passed a budget in over 1,360 days despite multiple House approved budgets being submitted to the Senate.

Now that Republicans control the House and the Senate, Obama has already said he will veto bills coming from the Republican Congress. Keep in mind that he has only vetoed two bills since 2009. If bills are passed by the Republican Congress, submitted to Obama, and the vetoed by Obama, will he become the new obstructionist? Of course not, but I believe he should be. While it is part of his role as President, I also believe it is extremely hypocritical to say Republicans were obstructionists when it was Democrats, particularly Harry Reid and Obama, keeping bills from becoming law.

A new Congress and the same useless Speaker

Today was the start of the 114th Congress. Republicans lead the House and the Senate….kinda. While technically the party does have the majority, they have decided to keep John Boehner as Speaker of the House. Yes, Boehner is a Republican however is actions show that he is a true RINO. Over and over again he has allowed Obama to ignore the laws that were passed by Congress and has continued to spend our hard earned money.

The $1.04 trillion “cromnibus” bill is a perfect example of the failed Speaker. For years Boehner has said the budget needed to be brought under control but each time he would cave and then push his followers into passing it. It was never brought under control. In 2007 the budget deficit was $161 billion. It peaked in 2009 at $1.413 trillion and now sits at $492 billion. Boehner has been Speaker of the House for the last four years and has yet to bring the deficit down to pre-Obama levels, let alone reduce the budget that as of 2013 sits at $3.8 trillion. For reference, in 2003 the budget was $2.2 trillion.

We need a Speaker who has testicular fortitude and will actually be part of the checks and balances instead of being part of the problem. Boehner has failed that and based on the number of votes he received in support, I believe he is not the only one who has failed. Billy Long, that includes you.
